The Path

In 1862, Kirkland MacDougall immigrated from Glasgow to Pennsylvania ”to acquire a better knowledge of general-jobbing.” His son, John, followed in his footsteps as a stonemason, building a fine collection of tools that have been passed down through the MacDougall family and are now featured on the front page of our website. And yet, 100 years later, John’s great-grandson, Gregg, had a difficult time finding the right path. Post college, Gregg worked in shipping, radio, foster care, painting, property management, and landscaping. After seminary, he pastored near Philly for a decade.

The Plan?

In 2010, the MacDougalls moved to Annapolis to assist Micaela as she attended St. John's College. While Micaela attended SJC, Gregg and Lynn started a church from their home, and Gregg did handyman jobs to support the ministry. Over the next four years, the jobs grew into GHS, and Gregg found himself enjoying the very career that his ancestors had done so well. In 2015, the MacDougalls spent a year in their Scottish homeland, as Micaela completed her master’s degree at the University of St Andrews. During that year, our former employee TJ capably and faithfully ran GHS.

The Present

Gregg, Lynn, and Micaela returned to Annapolis in 2016 and have grown GHS from a one man show into a small family business. Over the years, GHS has welcomed many exemplary employees, including TJ (who reversed Gregg’s path and left GHS to become a full-time minister) and Norman (who has moved on to better things at Winchester). Currently, we are excited to welcome Pete part-time, and we are always looking for talented handymen to join our crew. Together, our team is more prepared than ever to continue serving your home repair needs, drawing on the rich MacDougall history and our 10 years of experience in the Annapolis community.
